Family Portraits

Thank you for choosing Contemporary Photography Studio as your family photographer. We will personally work with you, from even before the session begins to produce the finest quality portraits available.

One of the things that sets Contemporary Photography Studio apart from many of the other photographers in the area is our personal service. Our studio is a low volume photography studio offering a personal touch most photographers just can’t compete with.  Most families have concerns about time, hair, retouching of blemishes and what clothing to wear. We offer multiple-outfit  sessions, if you like. We encourage our families to meet with the photographer a week or two before the session to review your clothing choices and discuss what is most important to you about your portraits. We will even come to your home to see the location you would like to display the image and help you choose clothing to fit best.

All of our products are 100% GUARANTEED.

If you are not thrilled the 1st time you see your previews, we will redo your session for FREE until you are. Robert wants every client to treasure his work for generations to come.

Viewing Selection & Ordering

After your session, we will set up a time for you to view your images and place your order. This viewing session is normally in the evening so that both parents can attend if they like. Have you ever had to pick out your family photographs from little proofs? It’s not easy. For this reason we will project your images on a movie screen for easy viewing.  We can even show you the final size and help with frame selection if you like. Once you place your order, at least ½ of the balance will be due to process your portrait order. The remainder is due when your order is complete.  If needed, we do offer an easy monthly payment option to help fit your budget, however no photographs can leave the studio until full payment is made.  From the time you place your order, allow approximately 2-3 weeks for completion. This includes professional retouching on ALL portraits ordered.

Portrait Sessions

The creation fee is a charge above your photographic package for the time required by the photographer to create your photographic images. This fee also goes to maintain the equipment the photographer uses to capture your images. In most cases the fee is based on the amount of time or effort that will be required to create your perfect image. Portraits can be created in or out of the studio or any location in Northeast Ohio.  Often locations give you the freedom to express you and your family and are more meaningful to you this is something we like to help you create.

The creation fee is collected in advance of the session date at the time the portrait session is booked. It is important to note this is a fee and does not get deducted from the final cost of your order. At Contemporary Photography Studio we want everyone to understand our fees. There are no hidden costs.

A note on Photographic Sessions… Robert requires that at least one parent be present for the children photographic sessions. We understand work conflicts; evening sessions are available upon request to help accommodate this need. A parent or family member over the age of 21 is required to accompany the children and student teens.

Why Choose Contemporary Photography Studio?

Every photographer is different. We would like to point out a few things we offer every client that works with CPS. Choosing a photographer is hard enough for you. We want to help you feel comfortable and secure that you are making the right decision when choosing Contemporary Photography to create your next photograph. I have no hidden fees and even more I stand behind my work!

Too many businesses today do not stand behind their work. Our goal is to personally see that our clients are completely thrilled with every portrait and product that they have acquired from us.

So, simply stated if for any reason, you are dissatisfied with the photographic quality of your portraits, we will immediately reprint, replace, or take more photographs. No questions asked, and no hard feelings either. After all, “Your Image Is Our Business!”

All finished portraits are professionally retouched. This includes the elimination of facial blemishes, the softening of facial lines, and other minor corrections. Please discuss with us any special concerns that you may have when you place your order. There is no additional charge for this service.

Wallet-sized photographs will be die-cut with rounded corners, and any portraits 11” x 14” or larger will be mounted, ready to frame. All finished portraits will be protected with a special UV lacquer. Other finishes available are at an additional fee as follows:

Our Masters Finish - A heavy texture lacquer spray.

Canvas finish for your wall portraits which add an artist feel to your portraits.

Kodak’s Metallic finish looks great on wallets and even your 8x10’s

Any pose may be printed in Full Color, Black & White, Sepia (brown tones), or our “Spot Color” Design. Please ask us about this unique style and all the specialty products we have to offer.

Robert will personally consult with you about one week prior to your photo session to get the perfect clothing, props, & anything else that might lend importance and personalization to your portrait. We want to photograph THE REAL YOU, not just production-line photographs like some studios. We especially recommend this Pre appointment when working with young children. It gives them a chance to meet the photographer and relax a little on the “BIG DAY”. This also lets our staff be prepared for any concerns that might occur.

What to wear and how to prepare for your Family Portrait Session

Taking the time to properly prepare for your Family Portrait session is as important as the photography itself. Some of the things to consider include the skin tones of those being photographed, weight, height, and even hair color.

The next major area to consider is, do we need to buy a new wardrobe to have a family portrait made?  Depending on what kind of portrait, size and where you plan to display your new portrait will often be a deciding factor. If you are having us create a portrait that you will be sending out as small gift-sized prints only, say at the holidays, then I would say no. If what you desire is a Fine Canvas Portrait to be beautifully displayed in your formal dining room, office, entrance way or formal living room in a size that will be viewed from across the room such as the 30”x40” sofa size then I would say you might wish to work to better plan clothing that matches and is formal if the room decor is formal. If you desire a casual portrait on the beach or in a park during the summertime, you will still want to coordinate the colors and think about the location you will be displaying this new glamorous wall portrait.

In the design session that is included FREE OF CHARGE with every portrait session I create, we will discuss these issues and more. I like to meet to “chat” about your family session at your home instead of my studio. This way I can see your family in action, meet the children, see the locations you wish to display the final portrait and then help you decide on colors and style (casual or formal) based on your home décor and personal family style. If we will be doing the photography at your home, we can also scout out the best locations at that time, maybe even take a few “TEST IMAGES” to see what locations photograph the best.

A few things to always consider when it comes to clothing.

  • What is the focal point of the photograph?
  • Are any of the subjects a little overweight?
  • If so what colors do they look best in?
  • Where do you want to create the photograph?

The portrait can be created in our studio or your home, a park, at the lake, on the beach, at the theater, in a nice lobby or any place that is meaningful to your family. Photography is art, it should represent you and your family in an environment that is pleasing to you and that you will enjoy for many years to come. Not just a quick picture from the chain stores on a painted backdrop.

What colors look best with your skin tone; should you be casual or formal?

I look forward to discussing all of this and more with you soon. You can set up a time to “CHAT” about the possibility of having a fine family portrait made at no charge to you. I would be happy to come to your home one evening and discuss in further detail my services and what clothing and locations would be best suited to create the best family portrait for your family’s personal needs. If I’m the right photographer for you, we can then set up a time to create the perfect family portrait. I work with my clients on your schedule, when I can meet with both the husband and wife and the children ahead of the session. This way we are all comfortable on the day of photography. Session times often fill up fast in the spring, summer and fall. It is not too early to be considering your portrait planning now.

The call is free, and so is the “chat”. I promise no hard selling, or pressure to book my services. Word of mouth advertising is still the best way for me to find new clients so I want to please every single person I meet, even if you decide not to hire me at this time, you might know a friend which my services would suit.

By the way did you notice my guarantee?
